I know...I know
It's been a long time. But once the school year finally starts back up it will be easier for me to update this with weather forecasts, news, and weathercasts from WCBI. While I have been home I haven't done a whole lot of forecasting till a couple days ago. Guess I wanted the weather to surprise me instead of knowing what to expect. :-)

Long time no Blog!
So it has been awhile since I have updated my blog, sorry about that! The reasons it has been so long since I have been able to get on here and give you all am update is being the school year ended and I headed home. While I was there I was able to get an internship at WDJT Milwaukee, WI over the summer. I met a lot of great people that helped me learn SO much about weather and just the TV News in general.
After that ended I am now back at Mississippi State and trying to keep up with all my classes. I also was blessed because I have an internship down here now at WBCI Columbus, MS. I'm learning a lot there too. As of right now I do the weather webcasts Tuesdays and Thursdays, which I'm very excited about. And soon, probably in November, they said I will be going live! How crazy is that? Haha The only down side is that I had to pick a last name to use for on-camera work because my last name is too long and hard to say. My "new" name is Whitney Williams. But on the good side, it will help keep my personal life a little more secured.
If you are interested in checking out my weather webcasts I will be doing a new one tomorrow so after 12PM you can log on to www.wcbi.com, click on weather, and I should be the current video. If you check the site out after about 6PM you may have to click on "more videos".
Ok, now onto the weather!
Starkville: It has finally begun to feel like Fall. When I left my apartment this morning for my 8AM class it was 36°. Pretty clear, blue skies though. Currently it is 63° and the dewpoint is 45°. And tomorrow we can expect another sunny day with the high around 73°. Our next chance for rain doesn't come until Thursday and into Friday with a cold front that will come through.
Chicago: Currently it is 65° and the dewpoint is 44°. Pretty close to the weather that is occurring in Starkville. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with a high around 51°. Your next chance of rain will also come Thursday and go into Friday as a cold front comes through.

Warming Up!
Seems like the story for both Chicago, IL and Starkville, MS is that things are getting warmer!
For Chicago yesterday's high was 26 degrees! Currently (3:17pm) it is 43 degrees. Tomorrow's high is in the upper 40's, lower 50's. Much feel great! This is due to moist air that is coming north. Which also means that tonight and tomorrow there could be fog. There is a but though, a cold front will be coming through the area Saturday night. There will be a high pressure system behind the cold front though which will bring the temps back up to above normal. With Monday the high being around 46 degrees with a chance of rain coming from the clippers going through. Tuesday 56 degrees.
For Starkville yesterday's high was 46 degrees and the day before that it was 37 degrees. Currently (3:23pm) it is 70 with high pressure moving into our area! Tomorrow our high in the lower 70's due to warm air advection. Warmer temps will be sticking around. Although we also have a chance of rain on Monday night into Tuesday but with a high of 73 degrees.

Blast of Winter
Starkville: What a chilly start for a day! We had a cold front pass through here last night and our high at 10am this morning was 37! Right now we are under cold, dry air. Winds are also making it feel a little colder. Our overall high today will only reach 45! Quit a difference from yesterdays high of around 59. Tomorrow, which will be Mississippi State's last home game, will be a little bit better with a high of 54 and sunny. As for Sunday it will be sunny with a little temperature spike give us a high in the lower 60's. The clouds will begin to come in that day because on Monday we will have a chance of showers rolling in with a high of 62.
Chicago: Brr! The same cold front that had an affect on Starkville, MS had much more of an impact on Chicago. The high yesterday was 44 and our overall high for today is 29! Tonight's low will be in the teens. Tomorrow we will have a little WAA(warm air advection) which will give us a high of 37 and will also bring in some clouds. Sunday will be breezy with a nicer high of 45! But as for Monday the temperature will be in the lower 40's and we will have a slight chance of snow.
Other News: Cities such as South Haven, MI are experiencing lake effect snow. This afternoon they are expecting around 3 inches and schools have been closed in some parts. This will be tapering off but their next chance for snow will be Sunday night going into Monday.

Starkville: The cold front has moved through Starkville. Tomorrow we will be expecting rain throughout the day and into the night because of a large trough with a developing surface low. The high will be in the mid seventies and the low around 50. Saturday will be cloudy with a slight chance of some sprinkles. Sunday will have plenty of blue skies though but with only highs in the upper fifties. Monday we will have blue skies again but a little warmer, into the lower sixties.
Chicago: A cloudy day for the Chicago area also. Rain will be moving into the region tonight and into Friday. But heading into Friday night the rain will change over to snow. Fridays high should be in the mid fifties. Saturday there is also a chance of light snow, colder air will be moving into the area which will give us a high of 40, which is below normal. No accumulation is expected because ground temps should remain relatively warm. Temperatures will stay about the same for a while.
Latest satellite imagery and RH time sections do indicate an increase in mid-level moisture and clouds overspread the region associated with the next upstream shortwave.

Winter Weather for the North
Starkville: Rain has now cleared the area. And right now it looks like our next chance for some rain will be Wednesday. Because of the cold front that went through our temperatures have decreased. Today's and tomorrows high are expected to be around 68. Sunday is sunny with a high around 62 and then we begin to warm just a little. As for Monday and Tuesday (Veterans Day) we should have highs in the upper 60's.
Chicago Area: Temperatures have definitely dropped in this area due to the same cold front that was mentioned about the Starkville area! Yesterdays high was 71! Today, the 7th, we have a chance of showers with a high around 47, what a change. And to add to it tonight we have our low around 33, so tonight our precipitation will be a rain/snow mix which is likely with little or no snow accumulation. The low will be bringing in the colder air tonight which will give us a high for Saturday of 41 and a low of 31. We will also have a 50% chance of rain/snow mix again. That should be the last of the precip for the time being. But highs will be in the lower 40's.
Other News: The big storm right now for the country is producing a Blizzard Warning for parts of South Dakota. A Blizzard Warning is an advisory issued by the National Weather Service which means winds of 35 mph or greater, mixed with heavy snow is forecast for a period of 3 hours or more. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory parts of South Dakota that are east of the Blizzard Warnings and also in parts of North Dakota. Winter Weather Advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when a low pressure system produces a combination of winter weather (snow, freezing rain, or sleet) that presents a hazard, but does not meet warning criteria. Good news is, this weather system is also moving out.

Hello All
Hello! My name is Whitney and this is my first weather blog. With this blog I will talk about the Starkville, MS area but will also be covering some things up in the Chicago area and big weather events that happen across the United States. The reason why I will focus somewhat on the Chicago area is being that is the area I am from.
The Starkville area has been quite lately due to some high pressure and fronts that have passed over us causing drier air. That will soon be changing because we are expected to have a cold front pass through around Thursday. Right before this front comes through we will have a spike in temperatures bring us to the low 80's for Thursday. Friday we will be in the mid 70's but Saturday the temperatures will drop to the mid 60's. This Fall like weather should stick around for a little while.
As for the Chicago area this area will be impacted by the cold front also which will bring in much colder temperatures than we have been seeing the past couple of days. When the front comes through on Thursday it will give this area a chance of rain with a highs in the mid 60's. Friday's temperatures drop down to around 50 and Saturday the high will be in the mid 40's. With this front our lows will be in the mid 30's by Friday night. This will give this area a chance of rain/snow.
